Introduction
The University is bound by the UGC Regulations on 'Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009'. The University has founded an Anti – Ragging Cell which governs the prevention of any means of Ragging either within or outside the University. There have been no incidents of Ragging at Tantia University, Sri Ganganagar till date.
All students admitted to the University and their parents are hereby informed to go through the guidelines on anti ragging:
University's Definition on Ragging
According to the University Code of Conduct.
- Ragging is an offence and is punishable.
- Raging means an act that, as an explicit or implicit condition for initiation to, admission into, affiliation with, or continued membership in a group or organization
- Ragging is viewed by a reasonable person as endangering the physical health of an individual or as causing mental distress to an individual through, for example, humiliating, intimidating, or demeaning treatment.
- Destroying or removal of common/ public or private property is would also be considered ragging.
- Ragging involves forcing others fellow students to consume alcohol or drugs or any other substances that are deemed unhealthy under knowledge governing medicine and popular social understanding
Message to First Year Students
- As a first-year student at this University, you have the opportunity to join a wide range of groups, including athletic teams, performing arts ensembles, religious groups, public service organizations and others.
- Entry into some of these groups may involve various formalities.
- Kindly check with relevant authorities about the appropriateness of the same.
Help Stop/ Prevent/ Eradicate Ragging
- If you want to help stop ragging, find out the steps that can be taken and the resources available.
- If you become aware of ragging, you can make a confidential (or anonymous) report to University officials using the confidential number and mail id that is provided on the website or approach college authorities at their offices.
- And if you are ragged in situations beyond your control, one of the most important things you can do is to resist participating in such activities. As a member of the organization, you will have a chance to challenge ragging and help bring about a change in the culture of the group and campus.
